Not all who wonder are lost

Many a times people seem to drift away from where they actually are. As individuals we tend to allow our imagination and thoughts to wonder on a daily basis. This is not always a bad thing. When our minds wonder and think of all kinds of things in life we are stretching our imaginations and allowing creativity to take place.

There are many occasions when an individual becomes side tracked by drifting away from where they are, and in stead of paying attention to what they are supposed to be paying attention to they allow their minds to wonder. A good example is a student in a long, tedious lecture. It’s only normal for a student’s mind to drift away from a lecture and wonder off to what they could have been doing, or what they will be doing later that day. Many students often wonder about how awesome it will be when they finally enter the industry they’ve been studying to be in. This will inspire them to complete what they’ve started and do their tasks to the best of their ability.  And then there is obviously the creative side to drifting away. Often individuals are inspired by their thoughts and fantasies. We could dream about something and see a beautiful picture in the thought or dream we had. This picture would not be forgotten easily, and could possibly be used in future (in a project, poster, brochure etc.).

Being lost in ones thoughts is not always a bad thing. Wondering does not mean that you are lost, it could simply mean that you are exercising your imagination. And in the long run this could have a positive effect on you.

  1. I agree, everyone is guilty of drifting of in thought at some point in time. That doesn't mean that we are lost, we come back to reality within the next few minutes unfortunately.
